How about MLB going back to 2 division leagues?

A while ago, I proposed the idea of having a play in game to determine the Wild Card.  It looks like MLB is actually considering it, or even having a multiple game series for that honor.

My idea gave the 2nd place teams of the 2 divisions that did not win the Wild Card the previous year the honor to play a game to make the playoffs.

But what if we went back to 2 divisions, like MLB had until 1993.  Have 2 Wild Cards, one from each division.  It would clean up playoff scheduling, as we’d know that every year the AL East champion would play the AL West Wild Card, and so on.

So, for the sake of fun, let’s redraw the divison lines.

AL East:
NYY
BOS
BAL
TOR
TB
CLE
DET

AL West
LAA
SEA
OAK
TEX
MIN
CHW
KC

NL East
NYM
PHI
WAS
FLA
ATL
CIN
PIT
HOU

NL West
LAD
SF
SD
ARI
COL
STL
CHC
MIL

What do you think?  I think it will make for some exciting games, and end the NYY / BOS / TB dominance in the AL East, among other things…
